During today's lecture we learned about semiotics which is the study of symbols/signs and meaning. In addition, we also learned about Saussure's model which is linked to the study about semiotics and linguistics. There are two elements: The signified and the signifier. To signify means to denote and the signifier means to connote. Basically, the image or form of the sign is the signifier and the signified is the meaning/concept behind it.
I found this to be very useful for me as I plan to enter the advertising industry when I start working and in advertisements to bring meaning into images is incredibly important, especially to make something that is impactful yet tasteful.
We were then briefed about assignment 2, which is the storyboard for our upcoming video about our assignment 1 problem: Why did the rabbits live near the wolves in the first place? We're planning to base it on our theory that it's based in a high school setting, and I think when we film it we're going to have very... interesting results.
